Key Scriptures: 2 Samuel 11-12; Psalm 51; Luke 8:14; 1 Peter 5:5-6; John 2:13-17 & 2 Corinthians 7: 10-11.

Although we might have a desire to fulfill the plans and purposes of God, all too often we allow the issue of pride to creep into our lives and this, together with ‘the cares, riches and pleasures of this life’ strangle or choke the spiritual life of the believer and consequently we don’t ‘bring fruit unto perfection’.
Just like when Jesus cleansed the temple in John 2, we also need to cleanse ourselves from the things that hinder or clutter our spiritual lives and which can rob us of our joy and peace in the Lord and this can only occur when we have a godly sorrow (true repentance) about these things and cry out like Jesus did ‘The zeal of thine house has eaten me up.’ (John 2:17).
