Key Scriptures: Hebrews 9:11-14; Matthew 3:2, 4:17; Ephesians 2:8-10; 2 Corinthians 7:8-12; Isaiah 64:6 & James 2:17-20.

A dead work is simply anything that I do to try and justify myself before God. Dead denotes no life at all and consequently dead works have no power to bring us into fellowship with God or to please Him in any way.
The scriptures are abundantly clear in that we are justified by faith alone and we are called to purge our consciences of these dead works so that we are free to serve the living God.
We need to understand that in reality we ‘owe’ God nothing because salvation is by grace alone and most importantly, because it (salvation) is a free gift, you do not have to try and earn it but only receive it by faith.
