Key Scriptures:  1 Corinthians 1:5&7; 1 Corinthians 3:1-7; 1 Corinthians 13:1-2; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:5-17; Romans 8:1&6-8; John 21:15 & 2 Peter 1:3-4

The Corinthian church had a knowledge of the scriptures, their preaching was sound and they were awash in the gifts of the Spirit yet in God’s eyes they were not spiritual! The scriptures tell us that we are known by our fruit and NOT our gifts and it is the Father’s desire that we ‘grow up’ (attain spiritual maturity) in Christ and while there are many ‘things’ that are important in our relationship with Christ, there is one that is paramount over all the others and can best be summed up in Jesus’ question to Peter viz. “Lovest thou me more than these”?

The greatest mark of a spiritual man or women is that we love Jesus Christ above anyone or anything else and may this encourage us to set our heart and affections upon Him and that the Holy Ghost would fill us with a greater hunger and thirst for our great God and Saviour.
